Just sending everyone a reminder on how to keep your fawns nice and dry during cold, rainy weather. We have
plastic barrels with the ends cut out placed along the fence in all of our fawning pens. After checking the pens
tonight, 8 out of 10 newborn fawns were inside the barrels where they were nice and dry. All of these fawns started using the barrels on their own. Once they find them and start using them, they will be sure to use them again, especially during bad weather. Fawns are not as susceptible to illness if they are not stressed from weather conditions, so anything we can do to help will keep them healthier.
